I sat atop my stoop in 12" of snow, 8 degree wind chill, to have a few smokes in my blue cotton/lycra pouch shorts and sweatshirt and decided to get down there and shovel before the other 5" came down on us. By the time I changed into my black/neon lime/neon pink nylon lycra tights, red G string, black sweatshirt and ski jacket that literally matched the tights, a few of the neighbors were already out shovelling their sidewalks so we futilly shovelled the existing snow -- only to have it replaced with all the wind-swept snow from elsewhere, so it took quite longer to at least make a safe pathway. Although they're used to seeing me in my lycra gear, I guess in this weather it was a bit out of place (at least the sneakers were!) but I gloried in the attention. After about 45 minutes of shovelling my own and a few of the neighbors sidewalks, I decided to go get some free Sunday newspapers from the supermarket 3 blocks away for me and the neighbors. I thought the papers wouldn't be delivered due to the snow emergency but the trip in the knee deep snow would've been exciting. The papers were there after all, just about everyone who was outside shiverred and shook seeing me in running tights, etc., and I loved it. The cashiers in the almost empty supermarket made their positive (tg) comments from their registers as I rolled up the papers to get back home. The cold kept me from filling out my package as I usually do but it was thrilling nonetheless. I have my gear off to dry right now (wearing my orange nylon lycra pouch shorts), maybe I'll try the black/neon yellow striped tights later on, perhaps with the work boots? Mmmmm
