Ballet tights are not to be confused with panty hose or nylon tights. They are made from lycra material which is just as thick as running tights. Ballet tights are not transparent. The difference from running tights is that they are plain with no decorative stitching or panels. Dancers wear tights with added elastic straps that go over the shoulders, pulling everything up - resulting in the classic ballet V-shape frontage that you see on male ballet dancers. A dance belt or firm jock-strap holds your tackle in place, which is important for dancing, but if it's just for recreation pleasure, who cares if the shape of everything shows?
