In the same way that polyester made a huge comeback as "microfiber", I'm getting the sense that spandex gear is being marketed and is coming back as "compression clothing". I just got this big flyer from a local sporting goods highlighting Nike's line of Dri Fit (polyester) and spandex "compression" shorts, shirts and pants. It's being marketed a "professional" quality athletic gear and underclothing - just like Under Armour. I'm starting to see a lot more of this stuff around the gym, too. I guess it's all in how you market something and how it's perceived. Drape the stuff on tough, rugged-looking jocks, and all of a sudden it becomes acceptable. Not that I care - I just like seeing it around.
