There are probably many reasons why gay is a little "cooler" now than just a few years ago. With the rise of the whole political correctness thing it has become, in most circles, decididly less acceptable to trash any other group. And while we were the last group to benefit from this, it has helped to raise our visibility. Also it may have something to do with the way television has gotten so much more fragmented, and thus competitive. Now, instead of a few networks serving the whole audience, there are hundreds, and they're more willing to take a risk to grab that market share....ie $$$$$$. And since statistically gay households are supposed to have more discretionary income, one big hit...like "will and Grace"... and the others all want to jump in. And what-the-hell, maybe historically our time has come!!
